Come and listen to a selection of songs from Hugo Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch and romantic duets. A theatrical concert centred on the humorous love affairs of Hugo Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch.
Laetitia Gerards (soprano) and Raoul Steffani (baritone) are two of the best singers of their generation. They sing beautiful songs by Berg and Wolf, duets by Schumann and Mahler's incredible Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, which some call the sequel to Schubert's Die Winterreise because of its similar theme and Mahler's phenomenal power to capture emotions in notes. But how did this commemoration actually come about? And how did the catastrophic pandemic change the celebration of the feast of the dead?
